Faridkot, October 27: Gangster Manjinder Singh, alias Kala Sekhon, 35, and his two accomplices were arrested at Raiya Wala Kalan, 15 km from Faridkot, on Friday when they were planning a dacoity. Another accomplice escaped.
Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Sekhon, who was out on parole. Punjab Police have listed him as a B-category gangster as he faces four criminal cases, including an attempt to murder and another under the Arms Act. He has been involved in criminal activities in the district for a decade.
The two accomplices arrested with him are Beant Singh, 28, from Gobindsar Basti in Faridkot and Sukhjinder Singh, 30, from Middu-Maan in Faridkot district. The third accomplice, Mangu Singh Manga, escaped.
Police said weapons were recovered from the arrested gangsters. A new case was registered against the gangsters under Sections 399 (conspiring to turn to dacoity) of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act at Sadar police station in Faridkot.
On September 29, gangster Ramandeep Singh, alias Ramana Sekhon, an aide of notorious gangster Goru Bacha, was arrested.
Police sources say that at present two gangsters, Tirath Dhelwan and Sema Behbal, are active in the district. The district police have either arrested or eliminated seven gangsters since January.
