Nawanshahr, November 16: The district level “Job Mela” organised by the district administration got overwhelming response as 1760 youth aspiring for various jobs thronged the Job Mela.
“The Job Fest was organized at Rayat Group of Institutions Rail Majra (Balachaur) to provide jobs to the aspirants on the basis of demand of as many as 500 vacancies but by evening 674 candidates got succeed to get the job as per their profile. The job avenues were opened for the youth having minimum qualification of matriculation. There was an expectation of turn up of 1000 but by evening the figure reached to 1760”, said the Deputy Commissioner Vinay Bublani while adding that the transport arrangements made by the administration to facilitate the aspirants by plying special routes of buses has paid much more to the increased figure. The Deputy Commissioner said that as many as two dozen of placement agencies/companies were arranged to interview the aspirants as per their vacancy need.
Balachaur MLA, Darshan Lal Mangupur who specially visited the venue said, “The heavy turnout of the educated unemployed youth at the “Job Mela” clearly indicates that the previous government has not done anything concrete for providing employment to youth”. He said that Captain Amarinder Singh led state government was committed to fulfill its pre poll promises. He also exhorted the youth to hone up their skills to tap the job avenues in the present era of globalization and competition.
Officiating ADC (G) Jagjit Singh SDM Balachaur added that out of these 1760 candidates, 1625 were interviewed by the various employers. Apart from selection of 674, as many as 484 candidates shortlisted for future need by the companies too, he said.
Campus Director Of Rayat Group of Institutions Suresh Seth, Joint director Placement and Training Satbir Singh Bajwa were also present there and assisted the administration to make foolproof arrangements for the job fest.
