Date:

The teaser of Gippy Grewal’s  upcoming film has been released. Punjabi actor-singer-filmmaker Gippy Grewal, who made his Bollywood debut with Lucknow Central starring Farhan Akhtar, Diana Penty and others, will be next seen playing a war hero in his upcoming film Subedar Joginder Singh.

This Punjabi biopic is based on the life of Param Vir Chakra (PVC) awardee Subedar Joginder Singh, who died fighting the Chinese at Bum La in Tawang during the Sino-Indian war in 1962.

Set against the backdrop of the 1962 Sino-Indian War, the teaser offers a glimpse of Joginder Singh’s courage under fire. For those who do not know this, Singh immortalized himself by fighting three major wars for India. He served the British Indian Army during the pre-Independence era and later in the Indian Army after India was declared independent, only to achieve martyrdom during the 1962 Sino-Indian War. Singh lost his life while valiantly facing the Chinese Army and for his actions on the battlefield, the Government of India posthumously honored him with the country’s highest wartime gallantry award- the Param Vir Chakra.

Subedar Joginder Singh’ is India’s nation’s first ever biopic on a Param Vir Chakra Awardee which will be released in three languages other than Punjabi, viz. Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Apart from Grewal, this film also stars Guggu Gill, Kulwinder Billa, Aditi Sharma, Rajvir Rawanda, Roshan Prince, Karamjit Anmol, Sardar Sohi and other contemporary artists.
