Chandigarh, June 25: Singer-turned-actor Gippy Grewal will act in a Punjabi biopic based on the life of Param Vir Chakra (PVC) awardee Subedar Joginder Singh, who died fighting the Chinese at Bum La in Tawang during the Sino-Indian war in 1962.
The movie, which will be released on August 15, 2018, will highlight the courage and patriotism of the PVC awardee and that of soldiers fighting alongside him.
Sumeet Singh will produce the film, while Simarjit Singh is directing it.
Gippy says, “It’s an honour to play such a role. I’m humbled but it’s a lot of pressure too as I have to do justice to the character. It’s a challenge. We’re dealing with history so it’s important to get the facts right.”
TV actor Aditi Sharma will also feature in the movie.
