Chandigarh, June 8
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab affairs incharge and MLA from Delhi Jarnail Singh and MLA and Youth Wing president Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, said that the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government was now completely under siege after the vaccine scam was exposed; as the government had awarded the contract to buy the Fateh Kits to a company that had nothing to do with the manufacture of medical equipment. The leaders said that the Fateh Kits procurement had proved that the ministers and officials of the Captain government were involved in the scam. Addressing a press conference convened at the party headquarters here on Tuesday, Jarnail Singh and Meet Hayer alleged that the Punjab Congress government appeared to have awarded the tender for the Fateh Kits to a garment manufacturing company as the winning company had no license to manufacture medical equipment.
The leaders said the owners of the company were very close to Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh; that is why the government had repeatedly issued tenders and bought Fateh Kits worth Rs 837 at a hefty price of Rs 1,338 and robbed the pockets of the people of Punjab. They said that the government has now removed Neeraj Singla, Director (Finance) of the National Health Mission, in the Fateh Kit procurement case, who had the authority to procure Covid-related medicines and other equipment.
“Although, the Punjab government had tried to tarnish the image of the people of Punjab, the removal of Neeraj Singla from office had made it clear that the government itself admits that there was a scam in procuring Fateh Kits,” said the leaders. The AAP leaders said that the people of Punjab would definitely take stock of the scams from Captain Amarinder Singh and the Congress party in the 2022 assembly elections.
