Government offices must have breastfeeding corner: Dr. G.B. Singh

Dr. G.B. Singh, Director, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Punjab inaugurated the Breastfeeding Corner at the head office of the department at Sector-34A, Chandigarh. While inaugurating the corner, Dr. G.B. Singh said that it is important to have a Breastfeeding Corner in all the government offices so that the mothers working in the office or visiting the office from outside should not face any problem in breastfeeding their children. He said that mother’s milk is the elixir of life for the baby which is very important for the baby. He advised exclusive breastfeeding upto six months and complimentary food along with mother’s milk till the child is 2 years old. This leads to all round development of the baby. If the mother breastfeeds the baby then she will also remain healthy.

On this occasion Director Health Services (FW) Punjab Dr. O.P. Gojra, Deputy Director Dr. Nisha Shahi, Assistant Director Dr. Sukhdeep Kaur, Assistant Director Dr. Vaneet Nagpal, Assistant Director Dr. Gagandeep Singh Grover, Program Officer Dr. Inderdeep Kaur, State Mass Media and Education Officer Parminder Singh and other officials were present.
