Chandigarh, June 23: With nearly a two-thirds majority in the House, the Congress is still worried while bringing a money bill — Good and Services Tax- GST Bill — on the last day of the budget session on Friday.
Punjab minister for parliamentary affairs Brahm Mohindra has issued a whip to all 77 Congress MLAs to be present in the House. The message reads, “Presence of all members of the House is important as voting on an important legislation may take place. The members should be present positively, full-time, during the house sittings to take part in the debate, and voting, if any, and remain present till the business of the House is over.”
GST is a money bill and a government can fall if it falls short of the numbers. According to sources in the Congress, with both the AAP and SAD-BJP closing ranks, the party is taking no chances in case some of its MLAs give the day’s sitting a miss.
