Panipat, Sep 21: Close on the heels of the Gurugram incident, a nine-year-old girl was molested in the toilet of The Millennium school at Sushant city in Ansal township here on Wednesday. Scores of parents protested against the school authorities and police outside the school on Thursday.
A case has been registered at the women’s police station against an unidentified man on the complaint of the girl’s father under various sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the IPC. Police haven’t ruled out the role of an insider and have rounded up a few school employees for questioning.
The protesting parents said the incident occurred around 8 am but the case was registered at night. The entire day the school authorities allegedly pressed the family not to register a case.
The protesting parents Sunita Jha, Sapna Bajaj, Amanpreet Kaur, Vikram Singh, Madhur Kataria and others–gheraoed principal Amita Kochar for the security lapse in the school and wondered how a man entered the women’s toilet.
The Class IV student reportedly went to the school toilet around 8 am when a man caught her from behind and tried to rape her. He threatened the girl of dire consequences if she told this to anyone.
However, the girl ran out of the toilet. The school sounded the family that she was weeping and asked them to take her home. The parents who noticed injuries marks on her body contacted the school authorities, who tried to hush up the matter, claimed a parent.
The family reached the police station around 9 pm and the police registered a case after the girl’s medical examination. The principal tried to pacify the protesting parents and assured them that there would be proper security arrangements at the school and that the guilty would not be spared.
