Gurugram, August 28: Heavy rain hit Delhi and Gurugram on Tuesday early morning that led to the disruption of road traffic and paralysed normal life. Morning rush hour traffic was affected and the police struggled to keep the vehicles moving. The policemen were seen standing in knee-deep water struggling to keep traffic going. The night-long of thunder rain also led to power cuts and uprooting of tress. Light rains started at around 2 am, but it gained momentum by 4 am and between 6 to 8 am, it turned into heavy downpour. The traffic movement on the Delhi-Jaipur-Mumbai highway was severely hit due to waterlogging.
In Gurugram, nearly 80 per cent of the city was submerged in an average of 1.5 feet water with things being worst at Hero Honda chowk, IffCO Chowk, Sohna Road, Narsingh Pur, Sector 4-7 Intersection and parts of expressway. Meanwhile, civic authorities have sprung into action as MCG commissioner Yashpal Yadav said that evacuation pumps were on job on all major intersections in the city.
