Ahmedabad, July 25: Patidar quota agitation leader Hardik Patel was on Wednesday held guilty by a Gujarat court in the 2015 Visnagar rioting case.
A court in Visnagar sentenced him to two years in jail.
In July 2015, Patel and 17 others were accused of ransacking the office of Visnagar MLA Rishikesh Patel during the protest rally of Patidar community.
Hardik, who was arrested and released on bail, was barred from entering Mehsana district, the epicentre of the quota stir.
The Patidar community under Patel was agitating for reservation in government jobs and education.
Hardik Patel and others had in the past secured bail in the case.
The quota spearhead had criticising the ruling BJP for not accepting the demands of the community.
