Harpal Singh Cheema bats for fair and transparent Excise Policy in the state

Excise and Taxation Minister, Punjab Mr Harpal Singh Cheema today said that the state Government will form a fair and transparent Excise Policy after considering the suggestions given by the stakeholders for the smooth functioning of the state.

Chairing a meeting with the stakeholders of all the Distilleries of the State here today at Punjab Bhawan Chandigarh, the Minister invited suggestions from all the stakeholders regarding next Excise Policy to be formulated shortly. On the occasion the stakeholders/Representatives of the Distilleries gave their suggestions and proposals for the next Excise Policy. Welcoming the suggestions given by the stakeholders, Mr Cheema said that the present Government has been formed with the mandate to eradicate corruption.

The Minister said that there will be zero tolerance for any unscrupulous activities adding that the liquor, which is being smuggled from neighboring states will be dealt with strictly. He said that If any such incident comes to the notice of any stakeholder, he/she can immediately inform him for prompt action. Mr Cheema said that entire focus will be on enacting a fair and transparent Excise policy.

On the occasion Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner, Taxation Mr KAP Sinha, Excise Commissioner Mr Varun Roojam and other senior officers of the department were also present.
