Haryana stamp duty up steeply

Chandigarh, September 19: Registration of legal documents including power of attorney, agreement deeds, partnership deeds and indemnity bonds is set to cost more in Haryana owing to a steep hike in stamp duty rates following approval of the Indian Stamp (Haryana Amendment) Bill, 2018, at the monsoon session of the Assembly.

Stamp duty on power of attorney  has been raised from Rs 300 to Rs 1,000 and on partnership deed to Rs 1,000. Similarly, there has been a massive hike on the stamp duty on agreement deeds — from Rs 2.25 to Rs 2,000. Also, stamp paper for executing various types of agreements would now cost Rs  100. The rate of indemnity bond has gone up from Rs 15 to Rs 100.

According to the new rates, the stamp duty on the article of association of company, which varied from Rs 60 to Rs 120 earlier, will now be between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000.  The stamp duty on adoption deed has gone up to Rs 1,000 from Rs 37.50.
