HC Bar chief spends ₹6.9 lakh for fancy number of Land Cruiser

Chandigarh, May 11: The President of Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association Anmol Rattan Singh Sidhu bought number 0001 of CH-01-BS series for Rs. 6.9 lakh through an e-auction of fancy registration numbers on Thursday.

A resident of Sector 21, Sidhu bought the number, that had a reserved price of Rs.50,000, for his Toyota Land Cruiser costing around Rs1.3 crore. He said the car with its fancy number was a wedding gift for his son.

0007 went for Rs 2.59 lakh against the reserved price of Rs.30,000, and was bought by the owner of Castle Resorts Limited. 0003 fetched the RLA Rs 2.44 lakh, 0008 went for Rs 1.5 lakh, 002 for Rs1.44 lakh, while 0786 was sold for Rs 1.18 lakh.

The auction fetched the Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA) Rs 62 lakh, against ₹49 lakh in the last auction for CH-01-BR series, where 0001 went for Rs 5.25 lakh against the reserved price of Rs 50,000.

The successful bidders will be required to get their vehicles registered as well as deposit the balance bid amount within one month from the date of auction, failing which a penalty of 10% as well as interest at the rate of 10% on the balance amount will be charged till the date of payment. The result of the auction has been put on the RLA website, and the successful bidders will also be informed through SMS and e-mail.
