Chandigarh, October 29: In a major move to woo the youths in view of the coming Assembly elections to be held on November 9, the BJP today promised free laptops and tablets to colleges students with 1 GB data per month if voted to power. In addition, the BJP has also promised free Wi-Fi in government institutions of the state in its manifesto unveiled by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in Shimla today. The BJP had also made similar announcement in UP election manifesto.
The Finance Minister, Arun Jaitely, while providing details about the BJP vision documents critcised the Congress regime government in the state stating that it has been a complete failure in the state. “To ensure everything smooth for the welfare of the people of the state, it is necessary that the people of the state must vote for BJP to power,” he added. Alleging rampant corruption in the Congress governance, he said the BJP has decided to root out corruption by taking various measure.
Commenting on the CM Virbhadra Singh’s accusation that BJP has framed him in false cases of corruption, FM Arun Jaitley said the cases against the CM were registered during Congress government and BJP has nothing to do with it.
While releasing the manifesto, Jaitley said the BJP government would have to do ten years’ work in five years as the present Congress government did not take up any developmental work while re-establishing the credibility of the government would be challenge, he added.
Talking about the mining mafia, he said the BJP has promised to constitute the SIT comprising of the officials of mining, police and forest department. In order to root out corruption, the BJP will set up 24×7 helpline in CM office, retired army officers team will be constituted to curb crime in the state.
The BJP has maintained power balance on the stage, the finance minister Arun Jaitley was accompanied two CM claimants – the former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal and Union Health Minister J P Nadda on the other. Other senior BJP leaders Shanta Kumar, the BJP state president Satpal Singh Satti were also present on the occasion.
While crticising comment made by the former Finance Minister P Chidambaram regarding autonomy of Kashmir, Jaitley said it is a serious issue and Congress is answerable to the people of the state for such irresponsible comment on a serious issue.
The BJP says in its manifesto that if voted to power it will provide free education to Children of BPL families till post graduation, annual job fair to benefit the students and unemployment youths of the state and also announced to remove the provision of interview in 3rd and 4th grade jobs.
Besides the youth, the BJP has said that its priority will be to provide basic amenities such as water to everyone and proper road connectivity to every village in the state and promised pilgrimage for elderly.
The BJP has also promised to develop Himachal as a major tourist destination by developing tourism centres, to make provision of homestay in villages and all the temples will be connected with Dev Darshan circuit.
