Chandigarh, October 24: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister’s son Vikramaditya is richest candidate among 479 nominees of different political parties in battle for 68 assembly segments elections to be held on November 9.
At Rs 84.30 crore movable and immovable assets, Vikramaditya owns assets more than double of his father Virbhadra Singh.
Interestingly, the CM has declared Rs 30.50 crore movable and immovable assets, but no car. But, Vikramaditya owns three luxury cars including SUV X Mahindra (Rs 14 lakh), Ford Endeavour (Rs 30 lakh), Mahendra Thar (Rs 5.19 lakh). He has liabilities of Rs 1.38 crore. The CM is contesting elections from Arki assembly segment while Vikramaditya from Shimla (Rural).
The facts are surfaced from the affidavits filed by the candidates while filing their nomination papers.
Surprisingly, the name of former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal of BJP does not figure in the top 10 rich candidates. Dhumal owns Rs 2.57 crore worth of assets with no liabilities, has filed nomination papers from Sujanpur assembly segment.
Transport Minister, G.S Bali, candidate from Nagrota assembly segment, is ranked 2nd in the list. He owns movable and immovable assets worth Rs 47.67 crore include Mall, hospital and hotel. Anil Sharma, son of the former Union Minister Sukh Ram, is worth Rs 37 crore. Anil Sharma is contesting from Mandi and ranked third. He was in Congress and has joined BJP recently.
At the 5th spot figures Rajinder Rana, Congress nominee from Sujanpur, with declared assets worth Rs 26.7 crore. Other candidates include Congress candidate from Palampur Ashish Butail (Rs 21 crore, 6th spot), Independent candidate from Jogindernagar Prakash Rana (Rs 20.8 crore, 7th spot), BJP candidate from Kullu Maheshwar Singh (Rs 18 crore, 8th position), Congress’ Anirudh from Kasumpti (Rs 16.22 crore, 9th position), while Independent candidate Vikram Sen from Kasumpti is on the 10th position).
