Hisar, Aug 29: After Sirsa dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, it’s the turn of controversial Hisar dera chief Rampal to face the law with a local court slated to pronounce the verdict in two criminal cases against him and his accomplices on Tuesday.
On August 24, the court of Judicial Magistrate Mukesh Kumar had deferred the date of hearing to August 29 after the police cited tension in view of the Sacha Sauda case. The court has completed the process of recording evidence involving two FIRs registered in November 2015. The accused face charges under Sections 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 188 (disobedience to order promulgated by public servant), and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the IPC. Rampal had resisted a police operation to arrest him on High Court orders while being holed up inside his Satlok Ashram in Barwala, Hisar. The standoff had turned violent, resulting in the death of five persons. Rampal is currently lodged in the Hisar district jail.
