Hisar, July 17: A 32-year-old schoolteacher of a government primary school was arrested for allegedly raping an eight-year-old student in a village in Narnaund area of Haryana’s Hisar district, police said on Monday.
The assault came to light when the health of the girl, a student of Class 3, deteriorated ‘due to injuries to her private parts’ and family members took her to a nearby hospital.
“As per the complaint, the victim had gone to washroom in her school when the teacher identified as Satyawaan barged in and brutalised the girl on Friday, ” said Hansi women police station house officer (SHO) Kamlesh Devi.
It was also alleged that the schoolteacher had threatened the victim with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to her family.
“The medical examination of the girl confirmed rape on the basis of which the accused was arrested under Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual offence) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act,” the SHO added.
Agitated over the incident, villagers on Monday locked the main gate of the school, demanding strict action against the accused schoolteacher. They also demanded the transfer of male staff members of the school.
Hansi deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Narender Kadian along with block education officer Baljeet Sehrawat soon reached the spot with police force and pacified the villagers.
Kadian and Sehrawat assured the agitators that male staff of the school will be shifted after consulting the administration.
Sehrawat ordered the transfer of the entire staff and appointed women teachers in the school, reports PTI.
The accused teacher has been suspended and will be produced in a Hansi court on Tuesday.
