Chandigarh, December 30:
Realising the dream of “roof for all” in the state, Punjab Housing and Urban Development Department has allotted 124 flats to the SC/BC houseless beneficiaries, whose income is less than Rs.3 lakh per annum, under Punjab Shehri Awas Yojana (PSAY) in Patiala district despite COVID situation in the year of 2020.
An official spokesperson of the department said that 176 (G+3) flats had been constructed at Hajimajra village in Patiala and a draw has been conducted for 124 flats and these flats have been allotted to the eligible beneficiaries under PSAY scheme and remaining 52 flats are to be allotted at no profit no loss basis.
This project is situated on the main junction of Sangrur-Patiala highway and Samana road, said the spokesperson, adding that Patiala Development Authority (PDA) had constructed 176 (G+3) dwelling units on 1.69 acres land and carpet area of one dwelling unit is 25.25 sqm. The construction cost of one dwelling unit is Rs. 4.10 lakh and the total cost of construction amounts approximately to Rs.7 crore. Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government was fully committed to fulfill basic needs of people especially deprived sections of the society, he added.
