Himachal bypolls: Two more seats fall in BJP kitty

Date:

Solan/Dharamsala, October 24 : The ruling BJP won both Dharamsala and Pachhad seats of Himachal Pradesh, where bypolls were held on Monday.

BJP candidate Vishal Nehriya won by a margin of 6,673 votes.

Nehriya defeated his nearest rival Rakesh Kumar, an independent candidate. Congress candidate Vijay Inder Karan was at the third place.

Vishal Nehriya got 23,397 votes, Independent candidate 16,724, while Vijay Inder Karan polled 8,189 votes.

In Pachhad, Reena Kashyap of the BJP defeated her nearest rival former minister Gangu Ram Musafir of the Congress by a margin of 2,742 votes.

Rebel BJP candidate Dayal Pyari, who contested as an independent candidate, finished a distant third with 11,651 votes.

The BJP’s victory margin has been reduced as Dayal Pyari got over 11000 votes.   The elections were necessitated as Kishan Kapoor and Suresh Kashyap resigned from their respective seats after their election to the Lok Sabha.
