India announces new category of visa for Afghans

Keeping in view the prevailing situation in Afghanistan, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday said it had worked out new category of electronic visa to fast-track their applications for entry into India.

A senior MHA official said, “The Ministry has reviewed the existing visa provisions in the country. In view of the current situation in Afghanistan, a new category of electronic visa called “e-Emergency X-Misc Visa” has been introduced to fast-track visa applications for entry into India.”

The government has already announced that it will allow people belonging to non-Muslim minority of Afghanistan to come to India and also those who are friends of India.
