India discusses expansion of bilateral air service agreement with Canada

Date:

India and Canada on Wednesday discussed the expansion of a bilateral air service agreement, which will allow more flights between the two countries.

Mr. Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister of Civil Aviation who is on a 9-day visit to the US and Canada, met Mr. Omar Alghabra, Minister of Transport of Canada and discussed issues of mutual importance to Canada and India. The talk was about expanding the air transport agreement so that more flights between the two countries are possible.

Once the bilateral air service agreement is signed, each country is free to allocate the bilateral rights to its respective airlines. Even after such flying rights are allocated to an airline, it must have slots at both the airports in order to start flight operations.
