Chandigarh, January 4: “The problem posed by unemployment can be tackled only through industrial progress”. These views were expressed here today at Hotel The Lalit by the ex Union Minister and Lok Sabha MP from Patiala Mrs. Preneet Kaur during a conference organized by the Industries and Commerce Department, Punjab and District Sangrur Industrial Chamber.
The MP said Punjab is predominantly an agrarian State and the Punjabis are known for their hardworking attitude but now with the various pro industry initiatives being undertaken by the State Government, the state would also run full throttle towards an industrial revolution. This would lead to youth getting jobs which would send the State several notches up on the development index.

In his address, the Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora said that the Punjab Government guided by the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has implemented the best industrial and business policy in the country.
Mentioning the demands put forward by the Sangrur Chamber, he said that approval for the establishment of the State Ground Water Authority has been accorded and the project would come to fruition soon after the notification. He further divulged that the 85 percent of the industrial units need not go through the complex process of site inspection.
The issues pertaining to only 15 percent who are outside the ambit of the fixed approved areas and who still have to go through the site approval process from the site appraisal committee, would be resolved soon after carrying out modifications in the rules.
Arora further elaborated that as per the new industrial policy, special financial incentives are in place for the MSMEs, Existing and new units of the big sectors. He also added that MSME facilitation councils have been set up in all the Districts to address the various problems confronted by the micro and medium industries.
Disclosing other initiatives, he said that a high tech cycle valley is coming up in the 380 acre area in Ludhiana. Furthermore, air cargo hub has been uploaded at Amritsar keeping in view the demand of the food processing units.
On the occasion, Director Industries and Commerce Department Mr. Sibin. C., President Punjab PHD Chamber Mr. R. S. Sachdeva, Chairman District Sangrur Industrial Chamber Dr. A. R. Sharma and the President Mr. Ghanshyam Kansal also addressed the gathering.
Among other dignitaries present on the occasion included Deputy Director Industries and Commerce Mr. Vishav Bandhu, Civil and Police officers of Sangrur and the members of Sangrur Industrial Chamber.
