Int’l Women’s Day: Punjab Police organizes Medical Camps, Cancer Awareness Talks for Women

Punjab Police under the banner of SAANJH on Tuesday organised several activities including awareness talks on cancer, general health and menstrual hygiene and medical and health check-up camps for women including women Police Personnel in all the districts to culminate the week-long celebrations to mark the International Women’s Day.

A webinar on Cancer Awareness was also organised at Punjab Police Headquarters here in which a Radiation Oncologist Dr. Rupali Aggarwal from Grecian Super Specialty Hospital sensitised Women Police Personnel about symptoms of breast cancer and how to prevent them by intaking nutritious food.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab VK Bhawra while appreciating all the CPs/SSPs for celebrating this special day dedicated to women in such a unique way said CPs/SSPs have been organizing various activities for all the women in their respective districts focusing on Women Health and Women Education for Empowerment and on the available facilities in Punjab police for reporting crimes and women.

He said that in some districts CPs/SSPs have also organised a Special Rahat Camp to deal with women related complaints and several complaints were disposed off at the spot.

Divulging more details, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Community Affairs Division and Crime against Women & Children, V Neeraja said that all the district police have celebrated this day with enthusiasm and fervor by reaching out women from all walks of lives and sensitized them on the facilities available in Punjab Police for preventing and reporting crimes against women.

She said that Women Help desks in 382 police stations starting from today for the next 3 days shall conduct programs to sensitize women on the provisions of law for protection of women and facilities in Punjab police for reporting crimes against women.

Similarly, SAANJH , the Community policing wing of the Punjab Police also organized many events in coordination with NGOs , prominent public persons to celebrate International Women’s Day in Colleges and private institutions.

Besides, cultural events were also organized by the district police for the women police personnel as part of the celebrations.
