ITBP chief visits flood affected areas of Uttarakhand

The Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police, SS Deswal, along with senior officials of the force headquarters, on Friday visited Raini and Tapovan areas in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand that were affected by flash floods recently.

The ITBP chief took the stock of the rescue operations and went to the tunnel where search and rescue operations are currently underway. He also visited the tunnel from where 12 trapped persons were rescued by the ITBP on February 7.

Deswal also undertook an aerial recce of the lake formed in the higher reaches ahead of Raini. He later interacted with the ITBP jawans and complimented them on carrying out the rescue operations in extremely challenging conditions.
