Jan. 15 report shows new cases in all Brampton neighbourhood zones for first full week of 2021

Date:

The first full week of 2021 saw new case counts rising across most of Brampton’s 98 COVID-19 pandemic tracking zones for a second week in a row.

All of Peel Public Health’s 98 pandemic-tracking zones in Brampton saw new confirmed cases, with a majority of zones recording new infections above 200 cases per 100,000 population.

The latest numbers for individual parts of the city were released on the Region of Peel’s website on Jan. 8 and show new cases confirmed in each zone between Jan. 3-9.

For the purposes of this infographic and article, “hot spots” are defined as any area of the city with an infection rate of 50 cases per 100,000 population or above for the given week, which is based on the Ontario government’s “red category” threshold of 40 cases per 100,000 in its COVID-19 alert and restriction framework. Hot zones are broken down into three levels of severity as indicated on the infographic

The numbers on the map are zone numbers and do not represent new cases in each area for the week indicated. Match the zone numbers on the map to the zones in the table to see individual case counts in each zone.
