Chandigarh, November 30: Riding on the largest 4G network in Punjab with diverse LTE spectrum, and over 7000 active towers,Reliance Jio, has vaulted to the third position by capturing 17% of the total Revenue Market Share (RMS) within six months of commencingpaid services in April 2017.
As per the latest figures released by TRAI for the quarter endingSeptember2017-18 for Punjab, Jio, with Gross Revenue (GR) of Rs. 293.74 crore has dislodged Vodafone (with a GR of Rs. 235.26 crore) from its third place. While Airtel with a GR of Rs 574.03 crore has 33.2% of the RMS and Idea with a GR of Rs 389.36 cr has 22.5 % of the RMS.
Revenue market share (RMS) of a telecom service provider is the percentage of total industry revenue contributed by that operator.
Jio has also gained ground in Customer Market Share (CMS), having displaced Vodafone from its third perch earlier this year in June. The CMS figures as of September 30, 2017 stand at 25.1% for Airtel, 18.9% for Idea, 16.8 % for Jio and 13.6 % for Vodafone.
“One of the key factors contributing to Jio’s rapid growth in Punjab is its robust network deployment. With over 7000 active towers in place in Punjab, Jio’s network is already the largest in the state. It is larger than any other 2G, 3G or 4G network in the state. We are in the process of further strengthening our network as per customer needs”, shared a Reliance Jio spokesperson.
“With a combination of LTE spectrum in 850 MHz, 1800 MHz & 2300 MHz bands connecting all 22 districts of Punjab, covering even the remotest of areas, our network has a unique edge over other operators in terms of depth, capacity and coverage”, the spokesperson added.
“While other operators still carry the burden of legacy network in Punjab, Jio has invested in the most advanced all IP network to provide seamless voice and data services to its subscribers”, further informed the Jio Spokesperson.
Another differentiating factor is that Jio is the only operator in Punjab that is providing VoLTE (Voice over LTE) services, where voice calls are also delivered over the internet, offering a superior calling experience with HD voice and video calls and five times faster call connectivity.
