Johar Singh starts 7-day ‘sewa’ outside shrine complex

Date:

Amritsar, October 16: After the SGPC task force didn’t allow Master Johar Singh to enter the Golden Temple complex again, the former president of the Chhota Ghallughara Gurdwara Management Trust (Qadian) began his seven-day “sewa” (volunteer service) outside the shrine on Sunday.

He cleaned the floor at the entrance to the shrine for two hours.

The “parallel” Jathedars had awarded him “tankhah” (religious punishment) on October 12.
“I concentrated on Gurbani and cleaned the floor as per the directions of (‘acting Akal Takht Jathedar’) Dhian Singh Mand. If they (SGPC) do not allow me in, I will continue to do ‘sewa’ outside the complex. I will not confront the SGPC task force,” Master Johar said.
Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh said Master Johar’s “sewa” would hold no significance till he appeared before the Akal Takht, which had declared him a “tankhaiya”. “Till he abides by the edict pronounced on him, the ‘sewa’ he is doing is meaningless,” he added.
