Kathua case: Lal Singh exhorts Jammuites to stay united

Date:

Jammu, May 31: Choudhary Lal Singh, former minister and BJP leader, called upon people of Jammu to stay united to fight the “final battle” against conspirators who were defaming the Dogras.

He called upon people to join ‘Maha Swabhiman’ rallies in Jammu in large numbers to demand a CBI probe into the Kathua case. He was addressing a series of public gatherings in Kharote, Patyari, Janglote and Krishna Colony in Kathua district. The BJP leader said the Central leadership of the BJP had accepted that the demand for a CBI probe into the case was justified.

“I met Central leaders of the BJP and apprised them of the pain and agony of the people of the Jammu region over the deliberate denial of a CBI probe. I told them how things were manipulated and an impression was created that Dogras of the Jammu region were trying to sabotage the probe being done by the crime branch of the J&K Police. We were called pro-rapist. I made it clear that I could not remain silent when my honour was being attacked,” said Lal Singh.

He further said the Dogra Swabhiman rally of May 20 was just the beginning of a mass movement in the Jammu region against the “highly communal, discriminatory and irresponsible attitude of the party leading the coalition in Jammu and Kashmir”.

“We are not demanding something legally impossible. A lie is being spread that the case is pending before the Supreme Court and cannot be handed over to the CBI. I understand these tricks of the ruling party. Let people understand that the Supreme Court has not restrained the state government from ordering a CBI probe into the case. All those spreading lies on behalf of the government should bear in mind that their fate would be decided by the people of the Jammu region and not by the party leading the coalition government,” said Lal Singh.
