Khalistan Commando Force ex-terrorist arrested by Kapurthala Police

Date:

Jalandhar, March 20: The Kapurthala police on Monday arrested former terrorist Ranjit Singh (55), alias Rana, belonging to Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) and Babbar Khalsa. He was living at a gurdwara as a granthi at Kohar Kalan village in the district for 14 years. Rana was declared a proclaimed offender (PO) around 27 years ago.

Kapurthala SSP Sandeep Sharma said Rana was wanted in over four murder cases and five shooting incidents. He hails from Jangpur Jattan village in the district.

In 1998, he carried out various operations under Bhindranwale Tiger Force (BTF), but was later declared dead by it.

The SSP said the police kept investigating people and places associated with Rana. “The investigating team recently came to know that a person with the same name is living in a shrine for the last few years. The police conducted a survey and identified the accused.”

He claimed that in 2006, he carried out an attack under the BTF banner, the details of which are yet to be revealed, but since then there was no such activity reported by him.
