Chandigarh/Fatehgarh Sahib, July 14:
In its anti-drug drive started on the directions of DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, The Khamano Police on Thursday arrested a persons with 5-kg opium. The accused has been identified as Rajwinder Singh of Baddowal.
In a press release, DIG Rupnagar Range Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that a police party led by ASI Taranjeet Singh laid a naka on Khamano-Ludhiana road and stopped a white activa scooter without registration number for purpose of checking. He said that police party frisked scooter borne Rajwinder Singh on suspicion and seized 5-kg opium from his possession. A case under sections 18, 61 and 85 of NDPS Act was registered against him at Khamano police station.
SSP Dr Ravjot Kaur Grewal said that arrested accused would be produced in the local courts and police remand would be sought to quiz them further about source of the contraband. She said that Fatehgarh Sahib Police was committed to wipe out the drug menace from the district and would take every step to nail it.
