Chandigarh, January 20: Kharar MLA Kanwar Sandhu has demanded that the proposed Rs 5 crore development fund being promised to each constituency of Congress MLAs should also be extended to “halkas” of non-Congress MLAs.
“If this is not done, we will be constrained to move the Punjab and Haryana High Court,” he said.

In a letter to Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, Sandhu said the ongoing pre-budget meetings of the Chief Minister with only Congress MLAs reflected his “partisan” approach. “While such meetings of the state Congress president are understandable, those of the Chief Minister raise issues of constitutional and moral impropriety,” he said.
The MLA alleged that this act of the CM was reminiscent of “sangat darshans” of his predecessor Parkash Singh Badal, which were invariably held in the presence of Akali and BJP MLAs. The Kharar MLA demanded that Opposition MLAs should also be given funds for development works and they should be asked to submit their plans like Congress MLAs.
