Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan, on Wednesday, paid tributes to Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh on his 183rd death anniversary in the Punjab Assembly here.
Offering floral tribute to the portrait of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the Speaker said that Maharaja Ranjit Singh was a great Sikh ruler who successfully united the Sikh misls to create a prosperous and independent Sikh Empire. Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh reigned with an ideology of “Sarbat-Da-Bhala” (Welfare of all), where Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims all lived together peacefully.
S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that all communities were treated equally and the brotherhood between people of all faiths was a benchmark for others and even 183 years after his death Maharaja Ranjit Singh is remembered with respect across the globe.
