Lathi charge on farmers will prove costly to Haryana govt: Biba Rajwinder Kaur Raju

Chandigarh, July 10 : President of Mahila Kisan Union Biba Rajwinder Kaur Raju has held Haryana Government accountable for killing a farmer during lathi-charging by Barwala Police on farmers who were struggling for the last 84 days in front of Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant Khedar, Barwala and warned that the BJP dispensation would have to pay the price as it has continuously been committing atrocities on the farmers of the state.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Mahila Kisan Union President Biba Rajwinder Kaur Raju said the Khattar government misusing power in an undemocratic manner and lathi-charged the farmers of the 45-member Kisan Sangharsh Samiti, who were protesting in front of the Barwala Thermal Plant, fired tear gas shells and water cannons were used. Apart from this, cases have been registered against more than 800 farmers under serious sections including murder. He informed that the Kisan Sangharsh Samiti has alleged that the five farmers have not been traced so far.

The women farmers leader demanded that all the demands of the struggling farmers be accepted without any delay, district administration should immediately release all the arrested farmers, withdraw all the false cases registered against the farmers, give compensation to the family of the deceased farmer and one member of family should be given a government job.
