Ludhiana, December 20: An 18-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan on Sunday after she failed the Class-10 examination for the third time, in Ludhiana.
The deceased, Karamjit Kaur, was a resident of New Subash Nagar and used to study at a government school.
Karamjit had been reportedly depressed after failing the Class 10 examination in her first attempt in March. She later appeared twice for the compartment examination but could not pass.
Head constable of Basti Jodewal police station, Vijay Kumar, said that deceased’s father, Avtar Singh, had gone to Haridwar to attend a wedding and her mother and two brothers were also not at home when she committed suicide.
“Her mother raised an alarm on finding her daughter hanging from the ceiling and took her to CMC Hospital where she was declared brought dead,” Kumar added.
The body was handed to the family after postmortem.
