Macadamise 2-km road at Mahil Kalan or ban dharnas: AAP

Date:

Chandigarh, February 22: Aam Aadmi Party’s Mahil Kalan MLA raised the concern over the macadamising of the 2-km ‘kutcha’ road connecting Gangohar and Mahil Khurd villages in Barnala district.

Kulwant Singh Pandori

During the question hour session on Friday, Pandori explained that the road was being used as an alternative route by those travelling between Ludhiana and Bathinda. Pandori informed the House that Mahal Kalan had become a favourite spot for people to hold dharnas. He said this road has earned itself the name of “Matka Chowk’. Due to these dharnas, many patients have died as the ambulances ferrying them to hospitals get stuck in the jam.

Sensing seriousness of the issue, Speaker Rana K.P. intervened and Cabinet minister Tript Rajinder Singh assured Pandori to expedite the work relating to the macadamising of the road.

Answering the question raised by Bathinda (Rural) AAP MLA Rupinder Kaur Ruby, state health minister Braham Mahindra assured that a proposal for making bylaws for the contractual employees was already in the pipeline an under consideration under the National Health Mission.

When the member demanded a time-frame, the minister said that he was seized of the matter. He informed that a retired judge was being appointed to look into the nitty-gritty of the proposal underway. He added that the contractual employees would be given the benefit of health insurance under the Ayushmann Bharat Scheme.
