Capt to table maiden budget on June 20; session till 23rd

Chandigarh, June 7: The Captain Amarinder Singh government will present its maiden budget for 2017-18 on 20 June. The ‘budget session’ of the 15th Punjab Assembly will begin from 14 June and continue till 23 June.

This was decided on Wednesday at a meeting of the Punjab Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.

The Cabinet decided to recommend to the Punjab Governor for summoning of the second session of the Assembly from June 14 to June 23, an official spokesperson said after the meeting. The spokesperson said the session would commence at 2 p.m. on 14 June with obituary references and adjourn sine-die after the proposed legislative business on 23 June.

The discussion on the governor’s address will be held between 16 June and 19 June, as per the schedule approved by the Cabinet. The CM has already indicated that several important decisions with financial implications will be announced during the budget session to fulfil some key poll promises.
