Date:

Shimla, August 11

An HRTC bus, a truck and some other vehicles were reportedly hit by the landslide near Neugal Sari, about 170 km from here at 11.56 am.  The driver of the bus was reportedly thrown out of the vehicle due to the impact of the slide. One body has been recovered.

Local MLA Jagat Singh Negi said that as per the driver there were 25 passengers in the bus. “The driver is in a state of shock and is under treatment. One person is dead. The rescue operation has been hampered as shooting stones are still rolling down the hill,” he said.

The bus was on its way from Rampur to Nichhar when the tragedy struck.

The Kinnaur DC and SP are on their way to the landslide spot, which is about 70 km from district headquarters Reckong Peo.

The SP confirmed that the landslide had occurred and that the teams of the Army, ITBP, police and Home Guard had been rushed to the spot and the details of the number of vehicles trapped in the slide and causalities were yet to be ascertained.

On July 25, nine persons were killed and three others injured after heavy boulders fell on a tempo traveller carrying 11 persons near Batseri on the Sangla-Chitkul road. Nine persons were killed and two injured.
