Make bus stands encroachment free within 48 hours: Warring

Transport Minister Punjab Mr Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today asked the officers of the department to ensure that all the buses stands across the state are encroachment free in coming 48 hours.

Chairing a maiden meeting here today the Minister said that the encroachments at the stands are not only creating inconvenience to the masses but is also causing a huge loss to state exchequer. He said that this needs to be checked at the earliest for which they have to be removed within 48 hours. Mr Warring categorically said that every encroachment whether big or small has to be removed else strict action will be taken.

The Minister also asked the General Managers to make strenuous and collective efforts for enhancing income of the department. He said that any officers indulging in fraudulent activities will not be spared at any cost. Mr Warring also asked them to ensure speedy recovery of arrears from the wilful defaulting transporters.

The Minister said that the due tax must be collected from the Transporters and anyone who sensors it shall be dealt with sternly. He called upon the staff to perform their duty fearlessly and meticulously as per the prescribed policy. Mr Warring also asked the officers to ensure checking of the government and private buses in the state.

The Minister also asked the officers to ensure proper cleanliness at the bus stand adding that every General Manager will be responsible for the upkeep of buses under their jurisdiction. Mr Warring also asked them to dispose off all the junk in their offices within a fortnight.

On the occasion Principal Secretary of department Mr K Siva Prasad, State Transport Commissioner Dr Amarpal Singh, Director State Transport Mr Bhupinder Singh Rai, MD PRTC Dr Bhupinder Pal Singh and others were also present.
