Make MSP a legal right, bring law for same- Dr Amar Singh

Date:

Chandigarh, December 1:

Dr. Amar Singh, MP Shri Fatehgarh Sahib while speaking in Parliament requested the Government to bring in a law for giving legal right to MSP. He said he had submitted a private member bill written by him for same purpose and it may be voted on.

Dr Amar Singh said that despite MSP being first introduced more than 50 years back, according to Swaminathan Committee report, just 6% farmers were getting MSP for their crops. He said that except wheat and paddy and 3 other crops announced MSP remained just an announcement for farmers.

He requested that MSP be inflation linked as recent increases in MSP for even main crops like paddy and wheat were below the inflation level of 4.48%.
