Malvinder Singh Kang, who quit BJP against farm laws, joins AAP

BJP state general secretary and former core committee member Malvinder Singh Kang on Wednesday joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) along with hundreds of his associates. Kang has held several senior positions in the Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and also served as the spokesperson of the state unit. He was also the National Executive Member of the BJP Yuva Morcha and served as the in-charge of the Haryana Yuva Morcha. Kang remained a member of the Punjab University Senate and became the first person in the history of the Punjab University, Chandigarh as the president for two consecutive terms. He had resigned from the BJP in protest against the three new anti-farmer laws introduced by the Narendra Modi-led central government.

AAP MLA from Delhi and Punjab affairs in-charge Jarnail Singh, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema, MLA and Youth Wing state president Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and party’s state general secretary Harchand Singh Barsat, formally inducted and welcomed Malvinder Singh Kang at the party headquarters here. Jarnail Singh said that today due to the anti-people policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh; every section of the society including politicians, sportspersons, lawyers, journalists and social activists were joining the AAP. He said that the advent of youth leader Malvinder Singh Kang proved that the youth of Punjab wanted to change the politics of the state. Harpal Singh Cheema said that Malvinder Singh Kang is a popular personality among the youth of Punjab and is a source of inspiration for them.

On the occasion, Malvinder Singh Kang said that he was impressed by the pro-people policies of the Aam Aadmi Party and the work done by the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s government for the welfare of the people, due to which he joined the party. Criticising the BJP, Malvinder Singh Kang said that the country’s farmers had been fighting for a long time against the three agriculture laws, but the BJP leaders were power-drunk. He said that Arvind Kejriwal has started the politics of change in the country and such politics is capable of meeting the needs of the youth.
