Man booked for raping friend’s wife

Date:

Ludhiana, September 20: An Amritsar resident, Hapreet Singh, has been booked for raping his friend’s wife at a hotel in Ludhiana.

In her complaint, a 22-year-old woman, who is also from Amritsar, told the police that she was married to Navdeep Singh and they had a four-month-old son. She said she had a scuffle with her husband, after which she took her son and went to the Beas dera on September 3.

“From Beas, I called Harpreet, my husband’s friend, and requested him to sort out our differences. He told me to reach the Beas railway station, saying he would get my husband there. When I reached there, I saw Harpreet had come alone in his car. He said he would drop us in Amritsar but he took me to Mapple Hotel in Ludhiana,” the victim told the police.

Around 10 pm, Harpreet came to the hotel room fully drunk. She alleged that he raped her while threatening to strangulate her son. The next morning, he dropped her near Beas and threatened her not to reveal anything to anyone or he would implicate husband in a drugs case. On September 10, the accused stopped her on her way. “My sister-in-law noticed this and questioned me about him. I then revealed everything to the family,” the victim stated.

ASI Baljit Singh said raids were on to nab the accused.
