Fatehgarh Sahib, July 2: A 40-year-old resident of Mandi Gobindgarh, Kuldeep Singh, along with his two sons Amandeep Singh (10) and Tanvir (3), jumped into the Bhakra canal on June 27 at Bagh Sikandar village in the district, allegedly due to financial problems.
The three bodies were recovered from Ghanaur town on Sunday and brought to the Fatehgarh Sahib Civil Hospital, where these were handed over to the family after a postmortem examination.
Varinder Singh, brother of the deceased, said Kuldeep used to work as a carpenter and had purchased new machines by taking loan. Meanwhile, he fell ill and a lot of money was spent on his treatment.
Varinder stated that on June 27 he along with his two sons went to attend nagar kirtan at Gurdwara Sahib on a Scooty and left his cell phone at home. When they did not return till late in the evening, they informed the police.
He said the police got a message that a Scooty was lying abandoned on the banks of the Bhakra canal at Bagh Sikandar village. They went to the spot and identified the vehicle. On Sunday, the police informed them that the bodies had been recovered. Kuldeep’s wife Manpreet Kaur was working in a factory in Ludhiana when the trio went missing.
