Man picks son, 12, from school, shoots him, self

Date:

Chandigarh, October 26: A man allegedly shot dead his 12-year-old son before killing himself in a Toyota Fortuner in which they had been travelling near Dhigtania village in Sirsa district this afternoon.

Vikram Saharan (43) died on the spot while his son Dev succumbed to his injuries at the Civil Hospital, Sirsa.

Saharan reportedly stop-ped his vehicle near Dhigtania village, closed its windows and shot his son in the head with a .32 bore licensed revolver before turning the revolver on himself. Police said Saharan, from Kalirawan village in Hisar, was living with his in-laws at Fefana village in Rajasthan on the border of Sirsa. He is survived by wife Sunita and daughter Mannat (6).

The police said Dev, a Class 6 student, used to go to school in a bus, but today Saharan told his family that he would pick him up. They were yet to ascertain the reason behind the incident.  Sources, however, said the man had a dispute with his wife.
