Bathinda, June 6: The police on Wednesday booked a patwari and two others on the charge of abetment to suicide after a youth shot himself dead at Ubbha village reportedly fearing bungling of records in a land dispute case. The body of the victim was handed over to the family after post-mortem.
Joga police station ASI Pakhar Singh said as per the suicide note, Bhagwan Singh had recently sold a piece of land, the registry and other documentation work of which was to be done on Wednesday.
“He suspected that the buyers, in connivance with patwari Sikander Singh, were trying to get land transferred more than he had sold. He also alleged that he was being pressurised to sign the documents. He shot himself dead with his licensed pistol in his fields,” the police said.
Based on the suicide note and the statement recorded by the son of the deceased, patwari Sikander Singh and two unidentified person were booked.
