Ropar, May 11: Ropar District and Sessions Judge BS Sandhu on Thursday awarded death sentence to a 28-year-old man from Meerut for killing his live-in partner’s two sons. The two brothers, Manav (10) and Shivam (6), were killed by the accused, Ashok Kumar alias Pintu, a native of Meerut district in September 2017.Victims’ mother Rajni had informed the police that her children left home for school, but they did not reach there.
Rajni had four marriages in the past. The children were from her second and third marriages. In her complaint, she had named Manoj, her fourth husband, a resident of nearby Phool village, as a suspect.
Sandhu said even after separation, Rajni used to meet Manoj, which irked Pintu. He was also annoyed because Rajni refused to have a child with him.To get rid of Manoj and the children, Pintu allegedly took the children near the river and threw them into ditches filled with water.Three days after the two children went missing, the police found their bodies on the banks of the Sutlej.
