Meet Hayer hails medal winners of Para Powerlifting World Cup

Indian Para Powerlifters performed very well in the 12th Para Powerlifting World Cup held in Dubai (UAE). The Indian team won a total of 9 medals including two gold, two silver and five bronze medals. Of these, Manpreet Kaur of Punjab won one silver and one bronze and Paramjit Kumar won a silver medal.

Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer congratulated the Indian Para powerlifting team for winning the 9 medals. Congratulating both the powerlifters of Punjab, he said that Manpreet Kaur and Paramjit Kumar have brought glory not only to the state but also to the country with their excellent performance. The sports minister said that despite the difficulties, Para sportspersons have shown courage and hard work and this performance is a source of inspiration for the people, more like a beacon of light for other Para sportspersons and differently abled people. He said that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is giving special priority to Para sports and promised that all possible efforts will be made to help bring the players of Punjab onto the international sports stage.

Both the powerlifters of Punjab are from Jalandhar. Manpreet Kaur won one silver and one bronze medal in the women’s 45 kg category while Paramjit Kumar won a silver medal in the 49 kg category.
