Chandigarh, January 23: The office of the School Education Department has courted a controversy with its communication on mid-session transfer of middle school teachers for teaching high and senior secondary schoolchildren.
This will lead to reduction in the number of posts in middle schools from six to four, at least for the time being.
An official communication after a meeting forwarded to the District Education Officers (DEOs) said, “Middle schools will now have maximum of four posts against the existing strength of six. Schools stand to lose one of their Hindi or Punjabi teacher and one of their arts or physical education teacher.”
General secretary of the Democratic Teachers Front Devinder Punia said, “How can a Hindi teacher teach Punjabi or what painting can a wrestling teacher draw?”
