Date:

Jalandhar, August 31: Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) of the Punjab Health department has proved a blessing for the people marooned at villages falling under Shahkot sub-division by imparting quality health services to them at their doorsteps.

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that MMU comprises an MBBS doctor, a pharmacist, a staff nurse, a lab technician, a helper, and a driver.

He said it has an infrastructure for OPD services, laboratory tests including common blood and urine tests beside sufficient stock of medicines.

Sharma said the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh is committed to providing best health services to the flood-affected people. He said that MMU visits one village daily.

Meanwhile, Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinder Kaur Chawla said that the MMU is examining more than 200 people daily and blood or urine samples are also being collected. She said besides MMU, 21 medical teams were already camping in each flood-ravaged village to provide the medical services to the people.

The Civil Surgeon said that not only the health services, the members of MMU also create awareness regarding preventive measures to check water-vector borne diseases.
