Moga, May 12: A 39-year-old man hailing from Jhandeana Sharki village of Moga district was shot dead by some assailants at Manila in the Philippines, his family members said here on Saturday.
The deceased youth identified as Hartej Singh, alias Teji, went to the Philippines eight years ago. He was running a finance company there and engaged in lending money to local traders.
His cousin Manmohan Singh said they got to know that Hartej was going on a business tour when two motorcycle-borne youths fired at him. They fired seven shots at him with an automatic fire weapon, leaving him dead on the spot.
Hartej came to visit his family members in October last year. The family has urged the Centre to make efforts to bring home Hartej’s body.
