New Delhi, December 2: Gangster Goldy Brar, the alleged mastermind behind Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s murder in May this year, has been detained in the US.
A member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Goldy Brar was detained in California around November 20, sources have said, adding that the Indian government has not received any official statement yet.
Brar, who claimed Moosewala’s killing through a Facebook post, has been settled in Canada since 2017 and had recently moved to the US reportedly under pressure. He had been living in Fresno city, Sacramento, Frizow, and Salt Lake, it is learnt.
Meanwhile, the news was confirmed by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during a press conference in Gujarat, where he is campaigning for his party AAP for the assembly polls.
“There is a confirmed piece of news this morning. Being the head of the state I tell you that a big gangster sitting in Canada, Goldy Brar has been detained in America,” he said, according to news agency ANI.

The gangster had also claimed responsibility for the murder of Dera follower Pardeep Singh, who was one of the accused in the 2015 Bargari sacrilege case, in Kotkapura last month.
Goldy Brar is a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. He is also involved in an extortion racket being run in Punjab and is believed to have had a hand in the murder of Youth Congress leader Gurlal Pehalwan.
